Irving, Texas: Ideal for completing projects in crowded or developed urban areas of Japan, the Cat® 325 excavator with reduced radius counterweight features a compact tail swing radius for working in tight spaces. Offering a choice of standard or long undercarriages to fit the customer’s needs, the 325 with reduced radius, when fitted with a standard undercarriage, allows for daytime transport on 2.8 m (9.2 ft) trailers. Offering a 9540 mm (375.6 in) vertical pin reach, contractors can equip the excavator with heavy work tools for completing demanding demolition projects.
The configuration extends the wing tail radius to 2030 mm (6.7 ft) offering excellent stability for heavy lifting while maintaining a compact working envelope required on jobsites like demolition, forestry, waste, or recycling. The machine is optimized for the use of a 2.65 tonnes (5,840 lbs) dual jaw crusher frequently used on demolition jobsites in Japan, but depending on the configuration, it can be capable of handling work tools up to 3.08 tonnes (6,790 lbs).
Comfortable, simple operation
The 325 with reduced radius counterweight offers the choice of Comfort, Deluxe and Premium cab trim lines, all featuring automatic climate control. Narrow cab pillars, large windows and flat engine hood design offer excellent visibility into the trench, in either swing direction and to the rear. Viscous mounts reduce cab vibration to increase operator comfort and efficiency, while easy-to-reach controls located in front of the operator help to reduce fatigue. A tilt-up left console on the deluxe and premium cabs aids in making cab entry/exit easier.
Operators can quickly start the 325 with reduced radius using a push button, unique Operator ID function or Bluetooth key fob (available for the Deluxe and Premium cabs). Standard high-resolution monitors offer quick navigation through operating menus, and the operator’s manual is quickly accessed through the monitor to aid in learning how a function works. Offering the latest operator-oriented User Interface, the machine allows for simple work tool list and combinations creation, and it eliminates the need to measure up again when changing Cat work tools.
Technology improves efficiency
The 325 with reduced radius counterweight leverages standard Cat Grade with 2D system with indicate-only and laser capability to help boost productivity. Installed and tested at the factory, the available Cat Grade 3D option includes all the hardware required to operate the system. Plus, Cat Grade with 2D readily integrates with third-party 3D systems. All Cat Grade Systems are compatible with radios and base stations from Trimble, Topcon and Leica.
Automating boom, stick and bucket movements to deliver more accurate cuts, Cat Grade with Assist features help operators stay on grade simply and effortlessly through autonomous digging. Standard Cat Boom Assist maintains track contact with the ground in lifting and hard digging applications. Improving efficiency in sloping, leveling, fine grading and trenching applications, Cat Bucket Assist automatically maintains the bucket angle preset by the operator. Cat Swing Assist helps reduce operator effort and uses less fuel in truck loading and trenching applications by automatically stopping excavator swing at operator-determined set points.
Standard Cat Payload gives operators a real-time weight estimate without swinging when the 325 with reduced radius is equipped with a bucket and thumb combination, grapple or clamshell work tool to help achieve precise target payloads. The system can be upgraded to Advanced Payload, which offers expanded capabilities like custom tags, daily totals and electronic ticketing. By combining Payload with VisionLink®, fleet managers can remotely manage production targets and key metrics.
Regardless of fleet size or machine brand, VisionLink provides actionable data insights for all assets, so fleet managers can make more informed decisions that lower costs, simplify maintenance, and improve safety and security at the jobsite. The Cat PL161 attachment locator helps track attachment location across all worksites, reduce attachment losses, and plan for maintenance and replacement. Helping to improve efficiency and productivity with operators of all experience levels, optional Cat Operator Coaching offers tips and data at the operator’s fingertips.
Maintenance and safety
The 325 with reduced radius counterweight offers a design that allows access to all daily service points from ground level, so there is no need to climb on the top of the excavator. Extended and more synchronized maintenance intervals help lower maintenance costs. Enabling service technicians to perform digital preventative maintenance checks, inspections and daily walkarounds, the Cat Inspect mobile application offers easy integration with other Cat data systems like VisionLink.
Proactive service reminders from the integrated vehicle health management systems boost productivity by limiting unnecessary downtime. Cat Remote Troubleshoot allows the Cat dealer to perform diagnostic testing remotely on the connected machine to help ensure that issues are quickly resolved with less downtime. Allowing fleet managers to initiate updates at a convenient time that doesn’t disrupt the production schedule, Remote Flash enables software updates without a technician being present.
Elevating safe operation at the jobsite, standard Cat 2D E-Fence prevents the 325 with reduced radius counterweight from moving outside of operator-defined set points. Optional Cat Detect uses smart cameras with depth sensors to provide the operator with visual and auditory alerts when a person is too close to the excavator. With both line-of-sight and non-line-of-sight options, optional Cat Command remote control removes the operator from the cab to work safely outside the excavator when working in hazardous environments.
