SamridDHI brings Rotating Machinery Bootcamp at COEP

Pune: A three-day Rotating Machinery Bootcamp under the SamridDHI skill-building program by FSID, supported by the Ministry of Heavy Industries, was hosted at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at COEP Technological University. The program is aimed at equipping final and pre-final year engineering students with practical, industry-aligned expertise in rotating machinery (Turbines, compressors and pumps).

The bootcamp offered a deep dive into the design, functioning, and diagnostics of rotating machinery. Students explored advanced topics such as vibration analysis, dynamic balancing, and system monitoring, reinforced by 3D interactive visualizations that simulated real-world mechanical operations. Key highlights were the introduction to Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and Digital Twin technologies. It provided students with insights into how smart systems are reshaping machine diagnostics, performance, and predictive maintenance in the modern industrial ecosystem.

Yogesh Pandit, Director Product Acceleration at FSID, said, “This bootcamp is part of a larger pan-India product accelerator program, Pravriddhi. This training initiative aims to train thousands of students in advanced manufacturing systems and mechanical engineering domains under the academic guidance of IISc.

Through immersive learning tools like VR, IIoT, and domain-specific mentorship, the program is designed to ensure India’s engineering graduates are ready to lead in a rapidly transforming manufacturing landscape.

Special acknowledgment is extended to Prof. Sunil Bhirud, Vice Chancellor, COEP Tech University, Prof. Nagesh Chougule, Head Mechanical Engineering, COEP Tech for extending their support and Dr. Vikas Phalle of Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI), Mumbai for his key role in facilitating the bootcamp.
