Expleo Marks 20 Years of Engineering Excellence with Airbus in India

New Delhi: Expleo, the global engineering, technology, and consulting service provider, celebrates 20 years of collaboration with Airbus, a leading aircraft manufacturer. A journey that reflects continued success and enduring trust.

Expleo’s Indian team assumed a strategic role in 2005, supporting Airbus’ diverse global engineering and industrial, digital transformation, and operational efficiency programmes.

Expleo’s partnership with Airbus in India began with the pioneering A380 programme and has since grown into a series of strategic engagements across multiple aircraft families. Notable milestones include Expleo’s contribution to the A350 centre fuselage integration, where it performed design and stress studies through to certification in 2009, followed by taking on design and stress engineering responsibilities for the A320 sharklets in 2011. The collaboration deepened in 2013 with Expleo’s support for the A400M, focusing on flight warning systems—both legacy and next-generation—as well as high-lift device engineering across several Airbus programmes. In 2020, the team further strengthened its role by providing product engineering support for aircraft structure optimisation.

Phani Tangirala, MD & CEO, Expleo, India, said: “The two decades of collaboration with Airbus are a testament to the strength of our collaboration and the value we bring as an extended team to Airbus through our engineering and advanced digital capabilities, including AI, data analytics, and model-based systems engineering. From structural and system design and stress analysis to software development, manufacturing engineering, and quality assurance, we are proud of the contributions made by our avionics, manufacturing engineering and mechanical product engineering teams in India.”

Building on this foundation, Expleo expanded its contributions to include joint structure optimisation, manufacturing engineering, and service strategic supplier global referencing in 2023, followed by vehicle management system development for helicopters in 2024. The latest milestone came in 2025, with Expleo’s entry into airworthiness, reflecting its growing scope and expertise. Beyond these programme-specific engagements, Expleo has been a trusted partner in driving Airbus’ digital transformation, fuelling continuous innovation and growth. Today, Expleo’s Indian operations stand as a strategic global delivery hub, supporting Airbus’ vision and strengthening its worldwide operations.

Alexandre Willemont, Senior Vice President, Aerospace of Expleo, commented: “Expleo in India has been an integral part of our global engineering business with Airbus. The diverse pool of engineers and digital experts in delivering a reliable and secure solution has made a lasting impact on our global programmes for Airbus. We are excited to continue building on this strong foundation.”

As Expleo and Airbus shape their future with AI and emerging technologies, the collaboration is designed to grow with a strong focus on digital innovations in engineering, sustainability, and developing aerospace talents in India.
