New Delhi: Enlight Metals, a technology-enabled metals procurement company, entered the ferro-alloys segment with silico-manganese, marking a strategic expansion of its existing steel trading business and broadening its offering for industrial buyers.
Silico-manganese is a key ferro-alloy used in steelmaking to improve the composition and properties of steel. Enlight Metals offers it in lump, granule and fine forms, with different grades to meet customer specifications. The product serves steel plants, foundries and rolling mills, with bulk and contract supply options available to meet industrial procurement requirements.
The expansion comes amid the continued importance of ferro-alloys to India’s steel industry and its position in global metals trade. According to Ministry of Steel figures cited by the company, India produced approximately 5.2 million tonnes of ferro-alloys and exported around 2.6 million tonnes in FY 2023–24. These figures underline the segment’s relevance to domestic steelmaking and international trade, as manufacturers seek dependable sourcing and materials that meet specific technical requirements.
Enlight Metals currently serves more than 500 original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) across its existing metals business. Its experience in steel trading, supplier relationships and industrial procurement provides a foundation for entering adjacent material categories and serving the sourcing needs of steel manufacturers and other industrial customers.
“Ferro-alloys are an important input in steel production, and our entry into this segment allows us to build on our existing understanding of metals procurement. By expanding our offering to include silico-manganese, we aim to address a wider range of industrial requirements and strengthen connections between suppliers and buyers. Our focus is on building dependable sourcing relationships and scaling the business in line with customer demand,” said Vedant Goel, Director, Enlight Metals.
Over the next 12–24 months, Enlight Metals plans to deepen supplier partnerships, increase procurement volumes and build repeat business with steel manufacturers and industrial buyers. The company will also evaluate additional ferro-alloy categories based on market demand and sourcing capabilities, while maintaining a focus on working-capital efficiency and sustainable growth.
The move aligns with Enlight Metals’ broader vision of developing a technology-enabled metals procurement platform that combines supplier connectivity, commercial expertise and data-driven decision-making to simplify sourcing across industrial material categories.
