This interview offers a deep dive into the challenges, strategies, and aspirations that define Brandworks as a leader in the evolving electronics sector.

What role does research and development play in your strategy for staying competitive in the global electronics market?

At Brandworks, R&D is the backbone of our existence. We allocate a significant portion of annual revenue to innovation, focusing our inputs for emerging trends like IoT, AI-driven devices, and sustainable lithium-ion cell tech. Collaborations with numerous design houses and academic institutions ensure we stay ahead, enabling us to launch cutting-edge products like AI surveillance systems. Our recent MoU with MeitY underscores our commitment to pioneering solutions that align with national development goals of establishing India as a major electronic manufacturing hub globally.

What have been some of the most significant challenges you’ve faced as an entrepreneur in the electronics manufacturing space?

Navigating rapid technological shifts and supply chain volatility were early hurdles. We addressed these by adopting design thinking approach and DFMA principles for faster prototyping and efficient production to cut costs. Building a localized supplier network and investing in proprietary tools reduced sourcing time, ensuring resilience. Empowering a gender-diverse workforce also fostered adaptability, turning challenges into growth opportunities.

Given the increasing emphasis on supply chain localization, how do you navigate the challenges of sourcing and procurement?

We prioritize partnerships with domestic suppliers and use our proprietary supply chain platform to streamline procurement. Compliance with global standards like ISO and RoHS ensures quality, while DFMA-driven designs minimize material waste. Also, in context to the MoU with MeitY we further strengthen our commitment to localized resourcefulness for manufacturing advancements. The research that is centred on generating commercially feasible solutions for lithium-ion cell tech, would reduce import dependency and foster a self-reliant ecosystem under ‘Make in India’.

Brandworks has a 70% female workforce in supervisory and managerial roles. What steps have you taken to create an inclusive and diverse work environment?

Inclusion starts with intent. We actively recruit women through skill-development programs and offer leadership pathways, resulting 70% female workforce representation at all levels including managerial roles. Flexible policies, mentorship initiatives, and a culture of equality ensure their growth aligns with organizational goals. This diversity drives diligence for operational efficiency and exudes a robust culture that helps us survive and thrive in pressure situations.

With the rise of smart electronics and IoT-enabled devices, how is Brandworks positioning itself to capitalize on these trends?

Brandworks Technologies is a frontrunner in IoT-enabled solutions. Our in-house team of engineers specializes in AI surveillance devices. Collaborations with global IC providers and IDH partners allow us to integrate smart features like energy optimization and real-time data analytics into products, positioning us as a preferred ODM partner for tech-driven brands.

Sustainability is a core part of Brandworks’ operations. Can you share some of the key initiatives driving this commitment?

Sustainability guides every decision. We’ve adopted green manufacturing processes, reduced carbon footprint through DFMA-optimized designs, and comply with RoHS standards. Our research on lithium-ion cells tech would also imbibe consideration for eco-friendly practices, while initiatives like e-waste recycling and renewable energy usage in our Mumbai facility reinforce our commitment to a greener future.

How do you see the future of electronics manufacturing in India, and what role do you envision Brandworks playing in it? India is poised to be a global electronics hub, and Brandworks Technologies aims to lead this transformation in the industry. By 2030, we’ll commission a million-unit/month battery plant and deepen R&D in solid-state tech. Our vision is to blend agile frameworks, DFMA, and sustainable practices to make India synonymous with innovation. We’re not just manufacturing products—we’re shaping the future of tech.
