Hilti India Leads Digital Dialogue on Indian Standard launched by the Bureau of Indian Standards

Pune: Hilti India, a global leader providing innovative tools, technology, software, and services to the commercial construction industry, hosted an exclusive digital event titled “Indian Standard for Safer Connections: Post-Installed Anchorage to Concrete”. The event centered around the publication of new standard for design of post-installed anchorage to concrete by Bureau of Indian Standards’ (BIS) and featured Hilti India’s leadership highlighting how it would transform India’s fast growing construction landscape.

The new Indian Standard addresses a critical gap in India’s construction industry by providing a comprehensive design framework for post-installed anchors in concrete, ensuring regulatory compliance, reliability, and consistency. With India’s urban landscape undergoing rapid transformation through projects like high-speed rail, metro networks, and industrial expansions, the demand for advanced anchor solutions has surged. The standard introduces stringent testing protocols and aligns with seismic safety norms, a vital consideration given that nearly 60% of India’s landmass is earthquake-prone, with 78% of the population residing in moderate to high-risk seismic zones.

During the event, Hilti India emphasized the standard’s role in resolving previous inconsistencies in anchor design that often led to connection failures in the past. The standard ensures that anchors perform reliably under diverse conditions, including cracked concrete and seismic activities, safeguarding both structural and non-structural elements like false ceilings, utility fixtures, and building facades.

Hilti India’s leadership highlighted the company’s commitment to supporting this evolution through its high-performing portfolio of pre-qualified anchors, rigorously tested to meet the provisions of the new standard. The company also announced that its cloud-based anchor design software, PROFIS Engineering, has been updated to incorporate the new design methodology, enabling construction professionals to deliver compliant, efficient, and value-engineered solutions.

To support industry adoption, Hilti India will roll out a series of educational webinars and hands-on workshops aimed at equipping professionals with the in-depth knowledge of the standard, from design to on-site execution.

Mr. Jayant Kumar, General Manager and Managing Director, Hilti India, stated, “The publication of the Indian Standard marks a pivotal moment for India’s construction industry, setting a new standard for safety and reliability. At Hilti India, we are proud to lead this transformation with our pre-qualified anchors, meticulously engineered to comply with the codal requirements. Our advanced cloud-based PROFIS Engineering software, now integrated with the IS design method, empowers professionals to design post-installed anchoring solutions that are not only compliant but also optimised. We are dedicated to partnering with the industry to build a safer, more resilient future for India.”

The event concluded with a detailed walkthrough of the new standard, led by Hilti India’s technical experts, who reiterated the company’s readiness to supporting stakeholders through every stage of adoption. The initiative further reinforces Hilti India’s commitment to being the best partner for productivity, safety, and sustainability, thereby contributing to the future of resilient infrastructure in the country.
