Bharat Electricity, POWERGEN India & Indian Utility Week 2026 Poised to Unlock ₹450 Billion Power-Sector Investment Pipeline

New Delhi: India’s power transition is entering its most capital-intensive phase, one in which generation, transmission, storage, distribution and digital infrastructure must expand in concert. Against this backdrop, Bharat Electricity, POWERGEN India & Indian Utility Week 2026, scheduled from 01-03 September 2026 at Yashobhoomi, IICC, New Delhi, are poised to help advance a potential ₹450 billion, equivalent to ₹45,000 crore, investment and partnership pipeline through 2032.

The organiser-led estimate reflects the cumulative potential of projects, technology procurement, joint ventures, manufacturing proposals and strategic collaborations expected to be progressed through the platform. It represents the scale of opportunity under engagement, rather than the value of transactions necessarily concluded during the three-day event.

The 2026 edition is expected to bring together senior representatives from the Ministry of Power; Ministry of New and Renewable Energy; Ministry of Heavy Industries; Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology; Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change; Ministry of Coal; and Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, alongside national institutions including NITI Aayog, the Central Electricity Authority, Invest India and leading sectoral bodies.

The Government of NCT of Delhi will participate as Host State, while Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, West Bengal and Bihar are expected to participate as Focus States—presenting emerging projects, policy reforms and investment opportunities across generation, renewable energy, grids, storage, utility modernisation and clean-energy manufacturing.

Shri Bhupinder Singh Bhalla, IAS (Retd.), Honorary Chairman, Bharat Electricity Council, and Former Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India, said, “India’s next power-sector investment cycle will be defined by synchronisation. Generation must be matched by transmission; renewables by storage and flexibility; digitalisation by cyber resilience; and industrial growth by reliable and affordable electricity. The ₹450 billion opportunity should therefore be viewed not merely as a headline number, but as a portfolio of projects and partnerships capable of strengthening India’s energy sovereignty and long-term competitiveness.”

Expected participation spans the complete electricity value chain. Leading organisations include NTPC Limited, NLC India Limited, Coal India Limited, Grid Controller of India, Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited, Bihar State Power Holding Company, BSES Rajdhani Power, BSES Yamuna Power, CESC, Tata Power Delhi Distribution, ReNew, EDF, Schneider Electric, Toshiba JSW Power Systems and Kirloskar Brothers, together with major power and commodity exchanges, technology providers, manufacturers, developers and financial institutions.

International enterprises and industry delegations from across North America, Europe, Africa and Asia are also expected to explore investment, technology-transfer, manufacturing and market-entry opportunities. Their participation will place particular emphasis on grid technologies, storage, intelligent utilities, renewable generation, green hydrogen, e-mobility and resilient domestic supply chains.

Shri Abhishek Bhatnagar, Director General, ENCIS, said, “India does not lack ambition, capital or technological options. The defining challenge is converting them into bankable, time-bound infrastructure. By bringing government, states, utilities, industry, finance and global technology leaders into one integrated conversation, the platform seeks to move opportunity from intent to execution, accelerating projects that improve reliability, strengthen domestic capability and deliver durable value to consumers and the economy.”

Structured around a high-level Strategic Summit, expansive Exhibition, Knowledge Hub, state investment engagements and curated business meetings, the 2026 edition will connect policy priorities with project pipelines and technology solutions with procurement and capital. Guided by the theme “Shaping Energy Sovereignty • Building Climate Resilience • Powering Viksit Bharat,” the platform will focus on a central national imperative: directing investment towards an electricity system capable of powering industrial expansion, digital growth, equitable access and climate-resilient development.
